What if you gave yourself permission to be fail? To not know? To mine for the gifts in disappointment, in struggle, in 'contrast'?
When we're called to play bigger, whether that be stepping into a new role, starting a business, creating a community project, finding her voice or speaking her truth, we risk disappointment, failing, losing, being seen in our struggle.
“We don't have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” Brené Brown
If we are courageous with our lives, it is inevitable that we will sometimes fall. This workshop considers what it takes to get back up again – a key component of resilience in the world of psychology, personal development and change. Using the research and curriculum of Brené Brown, this two day workshop teaches a process through which to recover and learn from those ‘face down’ moments. The goal of the process is to rise from our falls, overcome our mistakes, and face adversity in a way that is rich with wisdom and self-compassion. Come and explore Brené Brown's work in further detail and apply The Reckoning, The Rumble and The Revolution to your own lives.
Here's what we will explore...
- The physics of vulnerability and the ten rules of engagement for Rising Strong.
-How all stories have three main acts and that humans are wired for story.
- The Rising Strong process and goals: rise from our falls, overcome our mistakes, and face hurt in a way that brings more wisdom and wholeheartedness to our lives.
-The ways in which we offload hurt and your 'go-to' responses for dealing with disappointment and hurt.
-How to work through the Rising Strong process and finish with a new brave story.
- We may rumble with topics such as shame, vulnerability, criticism, trust, grief and forgiveness, and anxiety (depending on the needs of the group)
The course will be facilitated by Jacqui Sjenitzer, a coach, psychologist, and Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator.

After Rising Strong™
- You're clear about humans being wired for story, and about some of the stories you've been telling about your life.
- You recognise more easily when you have been 'hooked' by a situation in your life, and are able to get curious about your emotions more readily.
- You have a wider lexicon for speaking about and identifying emotions.
- You recognise curiosity as an act of courage and vulnerability.
- You recognise where you tend to 'offload hurt' and start to work out what to do instead.
- You have the Rising Strong process to use again and again - The Reckoning, The Rumble, The Revolution - so you can start writing some new brave endings to your story.
- You've recognised the value of sharing your story, and the collective power of the group process.
I've been running The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong workshops™ with groups for the past eighteen months, coached with over 250 people using this work, and spoken in front of hundreds of people - in and out of workplaces - around 'not feeling good enough-itis' and finding presence and courage.
About your coach and guide:
I'm Jacqui - I'm trained as a coach, psychologist and Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator. I work with groups, teams and leaders in workplaces and communities, helping them develop braver, happier people, and I work with people 1:1 wanting to dive deeper into what it is to live brave and show up fully in life, love and at work.
Most importantly, I've walked this path, so I know what it takes to move from living from fear, shame and scarcity, to being real, messy and magnificent, and feeling whole. Living a wholehearted life happens in the detail of our daily lives, and by cultivating a rock-solid 'support section' - we're not supposed to do this alone.
You can find me online at www.braveologist.co.uk.
We may never be completely comfortable with failing - fulfilment is a radical act and there are bound to be times when we get 'triggered'.
And there is such power and freedom in understanding our patterns and processes, what we can't be with, our aversions, addictions and what we try to avoid. It's like letting the genie out of the bottle - once the clear and genius you is 'out', there's no going back.
Liberate yourself, once and for all.
Questions you might have:
I'm ready to book - what happens now?
Hoorah! Contact me using the big red button above. I'll send you an invoice for the first payment of £93 - you can pay easily using Paypal or your credit card. Once you've paid this, your place is secured and I'll send you further details.
Can I pay in full, or can you invoice my employer?
Absolutely. Tell me what you need when you make contact with the big red button.
What if I can't come, or change my mind?
Please register mindfully as your deposit signals your clear commitment and intention to show up and attend! Your Rising Strong place is transferrable but not refundable. This means you can sell, or gift, your place to someone else.
Where shall I stay?
There are a number of local hotels and b&bs - I'll send you details in your information pack right after booking.
How do I get to the venue?
The venue is at Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, Redhills, Penrith CA11 0DT. Penrith railway station is 4 miles away and it is advisable to book a cab as there are not always taxis waiting.
What if I have dietary needs or allergies?
Let me know at the time of booking. We'll do our best to make sure everyone is well catered for. Brathay has a canteen staffed by super-committed cooks so you can expect tasty food.
Is this therapy?
No, it's not, and I am not a therapist. I'm a coach - governed by the ethics of the International Coach Federation - so will take good care of your beautiful heart - but I'm not qualified to offer therapy. You'll be asked to sign a coping agreement so you'll have the chance to think through what support you might need after the workshop, and I can help with recommendations, should you feel the need to dig more deeply into, and heal old stories. Past participants have done that and I've sought some extra support myself before now.
Will I be able to call myself a Certified Daring Way Facilitator after the workshop?
No - this work is for your own development and does not equip you to run workshops using the materials from The Daring Way or Rising Strong. You can find out more about becoming a faciliator at www.thedaringway.com.
