I’m an ongoing steward and facilitator of this work, supporting and guiding 100+ leaders through the curriculum since 2018. I’ve worked in public, private, charity and non-profit sectors, with teams, groups and individuals.

I continue to do my own inner work, navigating the places where my own armour and self-protections might show up and get in the way of my being a trusted guide for you.

You can count on me to be one step ahead of conditioned tendencies to please, perform, self-protect and perfect, so that I can role-model this work, and show you that vulnerability, self-trust, healthy boundaries and leading from integrity and values is not only possible, it is a structured development approach we can follow, together. Courage is contagious!

In this way I am offering my deep authority in this work - in the sense that I have travelled the path for myself - in order that you may experience the authority you hold (or want) in your own life. It seems to me an important thing to mention, especially in a world that so often tries to convince us that our authority - our power, sovereignty and ability to author our own lives - lies outside of ourselves.

I won’t ever try to assume I know whats best for you, or override your consent in our work together. For some, this is the first relationship where we can experience true partnership.

We begin with awareness.

I partner with conscious and values-led individuals, teams and organisations who are doing good work in the world — the kind that’s people-centred, planet-friendly, and full of quiet impact and heart. This is an important shift for my work and it feels necessary for me to be in my integrity and expand my head and heart to keep serving this work with my energy and life force!

The full programme is intense, can go deep and is rigorous. It offers a powerful direction for leaders willing to learn the language of brave leadership, and who are willing to explore their personal relationship with vulnerability, uncertainty, emotion and risk, and who are committed to leading with empathy, gratitude, courage and compassion.

I offer a consultancy approach to support what you need and can design shorter workshops to suit your event goals - tell me what you’re thinking and I’ll respond with ideas for what’s possible!

Dare to Lead™

About The Dare To Lead Program

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage building program designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals.

The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage building skills through workshops, trainings, and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations move from armored leadership to daring leadership.

Individuals who successfully complete the full 24-hour Dare to Lead™ program will receive a certificate of completion and are allowed to put the Dare to Lead Trained badge on their LinkedIn account.

Incredible session. I don’t know how you manage to get such delicate and complex stuff across in a limited time and in an unrushed, “light” way. I could tell people loved it, just what was needed, permission to tackle these difficult issues. You got the balance spot on.
— Nicola Roberts, Podiatry Admin Assistant

Huge thanks for all you have done for the hospital and the wider vet school. The programme has been outstanding and clearly had a very positive impact on a large number of people and your performance as facilitator of the work has been hugely impressive. I suspect your work will have a very strong and effective legacy in the times ahead.
— Richard Mellanby, Professor of Comparative Medicine, The Royal (Dick) School for Small Animals, University of Edinburgh

A huge thank you for guiding us so beautifully and gently through DTL. I have loved every minute and appreciated so much the time to reflect, the aha moments and the space you created where we were all able to be vulnerable with each other. Its a true gift and I am beyond grateful for what you have given us, separately and now as a group..
— Dineo Brittain-Dodd, Northumberland County Council
The facilitation was outstanding, amazingly skilled leadership and communication skills demonstrated throughout by Jacqui. She exhibited forensic knowledge of the programme and Brene Brown’s work. This leadership programme felt very contemporary.
— DTL Participant, University of Edinburgh

I loved: Working through the content and activities with the group. Having the opportunity to build on each skill set throughout the lifetime of the course. The facilitator created a safe inclusive space and was mindful of everyone’s needs. The sessions were well thought. There were interesting group discussions as well as the opportunity to work in pairs and smaller groups. Lots of food for thought and the learning will continue.

I appreciated most having time to reflect on my practice and leadership style, tools to support me to improve my confidence in my ability to lead, greater understanding of the importance of difficult conversations

Thank you Jacqui for bringing us together.

Jacqui’s excellent facilitation and communication skills connected us as a team and guided us professionally and effectively through the programme
— DTL participant, adult social care senior leadership team
The course provided an opportunity for us as a leadership team to get to know each other (and appreciate each other) more than we had. It felt like a very safe space to explore some of our more challenging edges and corners. It reinforced a lot of the positives that I think we already knew (particularly our values base as a team). I feel more supported by my colleagues and able in myself now to be brave in the areas where I naturally struggle more.
— DTL participant, adult social care leadership team

What worked? Building a safe space for us to explore; recap on content and what had been covered; feeling of time for everyone to be included and be heard; structure of course/breaks/awareness of energy and checking in. The course materials, presentation, emails in between, certificate - all great quality and timely.
— DTL participant, not-for-profit/inclusion sector
Jacqui was fab. Having the sessions running in tandem with a global pandemic... it actually helped us reflect and navigate the challenges together. from a personal point of view i felt i gained perspective on my challenges and could articulate them better and find a route to deal with them.
— DTL participant, adult social care senior leadership team
The group were wonderful and there was a high degree of trust. Jacqui used this well and we were able to use the time in ways that worked well. There was the right balance of discussions and listening and individual work.
— DTL participant, not-for-profit/inclusion sector
I’d have loved more time but can see how this is a journey that needs to be explored, practiced and learned continually. It would have led to different, deeper conversations if the team as a whole - but that’s not to detract or diminish the benefit of a mixed group either; just recognising it would have been different.
— DTL participant, not-for-profit/inclusion sector
Jacqui creates the perfect space for everyone to discuss their imperfections. There was an overall sense of trust and openness in the group which encouraged deep thinking and even deeper conversations.
— DTL participant, not-for-profit/inclusion sector
The whole course was brilliant and very insightful. I have learnt a lot about myself and my team which will help me to become a better leader.
— DTL participant, adult social care provider sector
This session changed my perspective and they way I’m intending to behave in tough conversations as of now.
— DTL participant, technology sector
Small groups helped the discussion, Jacqui was great animator and was able to relaunch the conversation when we could get too quiet, she maintained the right level of energy.
— DTL participant, technology sector
All sessions were really well planned, I always felt able to take part/input/heard. The support Jacqui provided outside of sessions was also very caring, thoughtful and insightful....you are amazing Jacqui :)
— DTL participant, adult social care sector
This course let me be honest and open and talk about things that i really dont like talking about as well as talking about these struggles with people i never thought that i would. We have all been so honest, and have trusted everyone which has meant that we can now be a better team.
— DTL participant, adult social care sector
The group discussions they were illuminating, open and honest
— DTL participant, education sector
Best thing about DTL? Reflection time. Opportunities to share and be open with the group. Taking time to go through the workbook alongside the video content. The group made me feel at ease and I was happy to be more vulnerable with my thoughts and feelings. I am so pleased that I took the time to take part in this learning. It has been invaluable!

We have had extremely insightful, empathic, and positive conversations during these sessions, with what I feel have been paradigm shifts in some occasions. I did not expect this, but this experience has brought the team closer together. Jacqui has been an outstanding facilitator.
— DTL Participant, University of Edinburgh
I learnt a lot about myself.
— DTL participant, not for profit sector
Delivering the course to a mixed group in 4 days was challenging, but facilitation was excellent and the group quickly formed a close and confidential bond that served us well throughout difficult and challenging conversations.

This work changed the way I live, and lead.
